Hello Mr. Owl

Hello Mr. Owl

My aunt loved owls. This little guy is inspired by a very mod looking owl figurine I have from her house to remember her by. This one is for you Aunt Eva.

It's also a gift to my brother and his soon to be wife. She asked, she gets.

I saw a Neiman Marcus bag hanging on the arm of a treadmill when I was at the gym. There was a woman in a long black dress with a huge hat - very Audrey Hepburn and very 40's. That bag triggered this painting.

This was inspired by that Playboy pictorial of Eva Herzigova. I have always loved using pointillism, but previously I've used it with inks. This is my experiment using paint.

This series was inspired by some Japanese plates my cousin brought back after being stationed in Japan while in the Air Force.

This is also the first time I tried out painting on a Gallery-stretched canvas.

I painted these sunflowers for my aunt's birthday, the year before she passed away. Her favorite flower was a sunflower.

This was painted specifically for Burning Flipside, 2005, and for our theme camp. I tried to capture the Bewitched era, with cool martinis and big hair.

This was inspired by the Eva Herzigova pictorial in Playboy. The shoot was so ethereal, and I was in the mood to paint a pin-up type girl. The two meshed into one painting.

This painting is in homage to my 30th birthday tattoo. It's the first time I painted an abstract figure and colors.

I painted this from a series of pictures my husband took of me. I really like the blue I used here; it's become a regular color on my palette.

I really like the odalisque figures painted by nineteenth century European artists, specifically Ingres. This is my first take on that reclining figure.

This is me, back when I was blonde. I was emulating comic-book style coloring and shaded using blocks of color.
